Welcome to Garden Design School, the country’s leading independent provider of garden design vocational training courses.
Our flagship garden design Diploma is widely acknowledged as having set the industry standard in today’s garden design Diploma courses. We create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment, which has been empowering students to confidently embark on a professional career in garden design for over a decade.
The school’s founders, Robin Templar Williams and Moira Farnham, are established, industry leading garden designers in their own right. They have developed and taught world-class garden design courses and workshops at many of the horticultural, landscape and garden design schools across the UK, and internationally.
Although their own design practices are thriving, they maintain an inspiring hands-on approach at the school. Robin and Moira deliver over 85% of the course content themselves, and are supported by specially selected additional guest speakers who are renowned experts in their specialist fields.
You are now able to study the Diploma course in two inspiringly beautiful, easy to access venues in the UK. You have the choice of either Painshill Park in Cobham, Surrey or the impressive University of Bristol Botanic Gardens, both venues are easy to access, and have ample parking
The 34-week (36 days- one academic year) Diploma course takes students step-by-step through all they need to know to become fully-fledged professional garden designers. Importantly, our course numbers are strictly limited to a maximum of 18 per class, which provides an optimum student-to-tutor ratio. Each individual student is carefully monitored and supported every step of the way, and rapid feedback and direction is readily provided by the tutors and specialists.
The best way to get a flavour of what we can offer at Garden Design School is to come and join us at one of our taster days. Here you will be able to meet the principal tutors, and former Diploma students who can share their experiences of the course – and subsequent lives as practicing designers.
