About Us

Garden Design School was founded by two of the industry’s leading garden designers, Robin Templar Williams and Moira Farnham. Both recognised the need for a garden design school that would successfully combine all the creative design skills with the essential, practical knowledge of this multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary subject. They set up the Garden Design School in 2001.

Over 75% of the garden design diploma course is taught by Robin and Moira, ensuring their unique design philosophy and wealth of experience is passed on directly to the students in a friendly and collegiate learning environment. Running their own design practices also guarantees that students have access to the very latest thinking, trends, and techniques and best practice in garden and landscape design. This hands-on, inspirational teaching by Robin and Moira maintains course quality, and ensures the principals’ high standards are passed on to students.

Opting to study a completely new discipline can be a steep learning curve. For this reason, our class size is strictly limited, so each student gets all the time and attention they need from the course tutors. Garden Design School is always on hand to informally mentor successful students with advice and support as they build their professional experience - and secure exciting garden and landscape design projects.

Garden Design School welcomes students from all walks of life. We will help you to become a competent, professional garden designer – even if you’ve never drawn before. No prior design or horticultural experience is necessary - just a passion for gardens, good design and a desire to learn!
