Moira Farnham - tutor garden design courses

Moira Farnham,
MSGD,M-BALI
Founding Principal of Garden Design School

Moira is a highly successful and established garden designer, undertaking private commissions and consultancy work for clients throughout the UK. She studied at the internationally-respected Kew School of Garden Design before going on to train at the College of Garden Design in 1991. She has played a leading role in the design and creation of several award-winning show gardens, most notably at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show.

With almost twenty years’ experience in garden and landscape design, Moira is also an established and successful garden design lecturer. She was invited to write, develop and teach the first National Diploma course in Garden Design and Construction for Further Education which is now widely accepted as an industry standard.

Her garden design courses and programmes have attracted students from around the world.

As a Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers and former Council Member, Moira played a prominent role in raising the profile of the garden design profession and, in particular, improving standards in education and training, before setting up Garden Design School in 2001 with co-founder, Robin Templar Williams.

At Garden Design School, she is responsible for the teaching of planting design, graphics, illustration, colour theory and colour rendering. The focus of the teaching of planting design is on design principles together with the construction and application of composition and colour theory, rather than horticulture.
