Robin is recognised as one of the industry’s most accomplished garden and landscape designers. Over many successful years, Robin has established an international reputation for creating award-winning private and public gardens in the UK, mainland Europe, the USA and South East Asia. Robin grew up with landscaping and garden design, before formally training at the College of Garden Design in 1985.

Meet the Tutors-Robin Templar Williams

Robin plays an active role within the industry and is a current Fellow and past Board Director of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD), a Registered Member and past Board Director of the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI). In the US, he is a Certified Member and past Board Director of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) USA.

For many years, Robin has been instrumental in garden design education, having both created and taught garden design courses and workshops at many of the UK’s well-known garden design and horticultural organisations, including: RHS Wisley, the SGD, BALI and APLD USA.

His field of expertise is in concept and spatial design, planting design, hard landscape design and detailing. Some of Robin’s achievements include;

  • Seven medals including 4 Golds at RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows.
  • Multiple BALI award winner, including 3 Principal Awards.
  • Judge for BALI and APL National Awards.
  • Retired Judge for the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) and also the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
  • Co-founded Garden Design School in 2001
